She’s only gone and done it!

Yesterday was an exciting day for me….

Cyber Cell, my debut sci-fi novel, went live on all the major book buying platforms.

I started writing it three years ago, after my father-in-law died and then my dad died a couple of months after that. It’s totally the kind of thing that makes you wonder what the f**k you’re playing at. So I asked myself this:

What are you waiting for?

What’s worse than death?

Death. It kindda puts a dampener on all those things you’d wished you’d done but always put off.

So I got on with it – just in case it was my turn to kick the bucket next.

I started hand writing it at first. That slowed me down – well not the writing but the typing it up afterwards. That was boring.

I had the title but no idea what it was going to be about or who the characters were or where the story was going. In the end, I needn’t have worried, the book just kind of wrote itself.

Slowly but surely, I got there. I learned a lot along the way too. Like how much of a mental game it is to write a book, to persevere, and to make shit up. It’s harder than you might think – or it was harder than I thought.

Mainly the discipline of sitting down to write, added to the self-doubt, d the knowledge that there are no original stories left, only the unique voice of the author makes it original.

Well, hopefully I’ve achieved that, and as my editor described it, I’ve written a sci-fi novel in a crime noir style.

I was pretty stoked by the fact my book (at the time of writing) made it to the dizzy heights of 21,533 in the Amazon Uk store rankings – especially given that there are over 6 MILLION other titles available in the store!

I have to say a big thank you to everyone who’s bought it so far. It’s blown me away to think a story I started writing three years ago, is now in the hands of strangers.

If you’ve not picked up your copy then you can find it in your preferred store here.

If you’d like to read a sample then you’ve two options – head to the likes of Amazon and check out the ‘Look Inside’ feature (not the easiest way to read), or you can grab the first four chapters for free here.

So what are you waiting for?

Let me know what are you putting off, waiting for the right time that never comes, or would really like to do…one day?

I’m off to wrote the sequel to Cyber Cell – hopefully it won’t take me three years!
